Hello everyone,

we are currently building and have two nice steel staircases, see photo, which I want to paint myself for cost reasons.
They are already primed, I will also clean them, and then I am still unsure whether to work on them classically with a roller and brush or rather use a spray system.
Regarding roller and brush, I am afraid it will take forever, it could become uneven, and that brush marks or drips might be visible in the paint.
Therefore, I was hoping that spraying could work better. Can something like this be done with an inexpensive device, such as the Wagner W125 for €65? I would then cover everything extensively with foil, watch a few YouTube videos, and then... :) Unfortunately, many parts of the staircase are rather thin, so when spraying probably half of the paint lands on the foil.

Do you have practical experience with something like this?

Thanks & regards

It takes 2 hours. By the way: last week or the week before there was already the same question.

The roller works great :-) We had brushes for the corners. It really worked well with two people.

our staircase in the old house over 4 floors looked exactly the same.
My wife started a project with a good friend using a roller and brush (about 4 hours)
Afterwards they knew everything again, the time passed like nothing, it could have also been 8 floors.
Don't make a science out of it, just start

Rollers are practical for larger surfaces. Such thin rods require attention and patience. And I'm afraid if it really should turn out well, also two coats. For me, there are usually spots left over that I only notice afterward.

I think that's a good suggestion. :)
