yes, we heat with a ground source heat pump. Of course, you should check whether the acquisition costs fit into the budget. But if it should be feasible for you and if the other conditions are also met, the acquisition costs amortize in the sense that you have lower heating costs.

do you mean the necessary permits for the ground drilling? So is it not possible to heat with a ground source heat pump in Berlin?

No, I only meant the connection and so on. But I probably confused that with sanitary drinking water pipes. You have to be careful when you are in the water protection area. But normally, the drilling company takes care of that. It’s the same for me, that’s why no geothermal energy was possible.

yes, it obviously has to fit into the budget, but that would be feasible. especially if it pays off again in the long term. okay, and I suppose the pump suits you fine? we have now arranged a consultation appointment with Vaillant, that somehow seems the simplest. we will have everything explained to us there. the contact person was already quite nice. before the appointment, I want to inform myself a bit about the different options to be prepared. how was it for you back then when you took care of it?

OK, all clear. Confusing things is of course human. Just like the fact that you have to be careful when it comes to a property in a water protection area or nearby. There are also other initial situations where the option of geothermal energy is not feasible, but thankfully there are good alternatives.

: Yes, we are satisfied with the geothermal heat pump. And yes, if the situation allows, a consultation appointment is advisable. You should definitely bring along the existing data such as the area to be heated and the thermal insulation. Informing yourself in advance about the different options is not mandatory, but of course advantageous. The more you read up, the more questions you can note down. That’s how we approached it.

hey again. so I already had a nice preliminary phone conversation with Vaillant. they explained to me that it would be good if we brought some data, just as you already suggested. I’ve already looked into heat pumps a bit on the internet, but I don’t have a favorite yet; I’ll wait for the on-site inspection appointment at Vaillant. I’m already curious. we are going there at the beginning of April, so the week after next, hopefully the overall situation allows it, otherwise we’ll of course have to postpone.

You are making the same mistake as many others and focusing far too much on the device. Much more important for an effective heating system is the hydraulics and design of the underfloor heating. If these are not good, the best heat pump won't help you.
