How many power sockets do you have? Do we need more?

Hi!

My two cents: 150 sqm with 100 sockets. Two of them switchable in every room for indirect lighting or the notorious red dot from the TV.

We don’t live in the house yet, but I have already found one, three spots where a socket could also have been.

LAN in every room, TV basically as well. (Also in the garage the full package)

Cheers, torsan

So I can say that we will get about the same number of sockets. One is surprised

The recommendation from our electrician, which I would like to pass on to you now, is:

After completion of the shell construction, go through all the rooms with the electrician and tell him where you want your sockets, switches, etc.... placed.

Supplying and installing a single socket costs us 21€

For about 154m², I come to approximately 90 sockets + about 20 for the basement, garage & outdoor area. We have been living here for a year now and haven’t missed any yet. Rather, we have covered some with cabinets differently than planned.

The distances between the sockets are chosen so that I never needed an extension to drill with the Hilti.
In the hallways, we have the Gira LED Schuko system which has already proven itself. (You don’t always have to turn on the light when you have to go out at night or no one falls down the stairs etc.)

Kitchen: Besides the large appliance connections (which are installed anyway) a retractable triple strip on the kitchen island and 5 Schukos on the sideboard. So, besides Jura and Kitchenaid, there is still enough space.

I deliberately did not install LAN but went with coax which is connected with appropriate multimedia sockets. So I can access phone, internet, TV, and radio from any socket.

I didn’t want a BUS system either, so I installed the Gira Astro controls for the blinds instead.

Lighting points: A mix of wall and ceiling points, with wall lighting dominating in the living room and hallways.

so every time I have to kneel (or bend my back) when I need to plug something in? Oh no, I’d gladly have it right under the switch (I used to have those separate ones at 'shin height', and I always thought the under-switch sockets were so cool that I wanted/want to have them too )

In theory, I like USB, but do they also switch off the power supply when no USB device is connected? Otherwise, unnecessary power is wasted (and thus money) when nothing is plugged in.

Currently, we live with a maximum of 2 sockets per room (old building), and I don’t even want to think about the danger of power strips....... However, I’ve thrown out all the 2-way bakelite splitters after the first one started to spark :/

Thanks also for the tip about network/multimedia sockets; I will definitely take a closer look at those during planning – Wi-Fi is not so great (regarding radiation in the environment), but having one more cable to the laptop on my lap really isn’t necessary, and the tablet doesn’t have a LAN port!
