How many power sockets do you have? Do we need more?

That's why they are not in the same frame, but there is about 70 cm (roughly estimated?) vertical distance between the light and the power. Nothing really happens there.

But that would not be standard. 70 cm apart? That might look really terrible... Then you might as well put the light switch at knee height? That could actually be much more practical.

My parents have sockets in the same frame as the light switches (and so do I). No one has ever been harmed, the fear is, I think, unfounded; nothing simply goes wrong with the sockets commonly used here. Otherwise, you have enough sockets that are just as unprotected against deliberate poking. Anyone who wants to do something about their fear can also use sockets with integrated child safety, which cost (at least with Gira) only a little more.

Probably no one has fingers so small that they could fit into the opening of a socket. You can safely poke around as much as you want and still won't get an electric shock. Having said that, it is of course completely uncritical that a light switch is in close proximity to the socket. Here too, the danger tends toward zero.

But electricity is an a**hole when you want to stick things into it. And that is probably the greatest danger when there are children in the household. However, deeply recessed sockets are also vulnerable because the little anarchists can easily reach them.

Ok, I will not try it. And as already said, one should consider whether every room needs a so-called work socket, because lamps or devices will hardly be plugged in near the door.

That’s why there are child safety locks, which we have installed throughout the house. They prevent little fingers or other objects from getting in, as long as you don’t accidentally pull them out when unplugging devices.
