Quick question about that: In your opinion, is oiled or lacquered better? I really can't figure out the difference?
Okay, I see, we completely misunderstood the sanding part - but if the parquet would last for 10 years first and then a big sanding job would be needed during the holidays, that would be okay.
But I am mainly struggling with this gluing vs floating installation. I find very contradictory information on Google about it. Do I understand correctly that impact sound insulation is better with gluing and the wood has less play, which then also affects durability?
If I understand that correctly, I have no doubt that gluing would be more sensible. But if we have to pay several thousand more for the gluing by a professional, I unfortunately have to say: just not possible.
That's why we are now wavering again whether laminate might actually be more sensible. Parquet does get more expensive, and before we do it half-heartedly later...
Oh, two more layman questions:
We understood that the wear layer is important to know if and how often you can sand. That also affects the price.
But what about the specification of the thickness?
And: In the house there is impact sound insulation foil under the current laminate. It is then 22 years old. Does it need to be renewed or can it stay?
