Groundwater too high for basement

We also have groundwater at this depth and have not even considered having a basement for that reason alone. We do not miss the basement at all, even though we had one before. Our neighbors built with basements; we know that one of them paid an additional 30,000 euros for his [weiße Wanne]. Another neighbor did not have groundwater when digging. Six houses down, a house with a basement was built last year, and during the entire basement work, groundwater was pumped out day and night; I passed by there every day... it was incredible how much water ran out of thick hoses. I have also seen several houses here in the construction area where basements were sealed afterward and the entire area around the basement was excavated again; the houses have been standing for 10-14 years. So a [weiße Wanne] does not mean that you have a watertight basement for decades.
