Our bathtub should have been lifted into the upper floor before building the roof structure, as it is quite large and weighs 200kg. In fact, it arrived a day later and six carpenters had to carry it up my DIY construction stairs, poor things. Anyway, at that time we still had to come up with a plan for the thing because there was, of course, no screed yet. So we placed the tub on an OSB board with two rolling boards screwed underneath to be able to move it at least a little. We had to modify the door openings with an angle grinder to get from room to room. When the screed arrived, we had to pull the tub up on the rolling boards with a block and tackle attached to our main purlin and then temporarily stored it on a construction over the stair railing until the screed was dry.

Long story short: you could also hang the devices on hooks from the ceiling.

What do you do if you eventually want to remove the devices or replace them with new ones? You definitely can't get new devices into the basement. You could, in an emergency, saw old devices apart. No idea how long the lifespan of such a device is or when the desire to acquire a new device will arise, but without a "large" access option to the basement, you are limited to what you install now.

:D would definitely look very good.

The equipment will outlive me easily; once they are in, they will stay. And I don’t need new equipment anyway, as I also do a lot with free weights -> which allows for variation in exercises.

There are only 2 pieces of equipment that worry me the most (a leg press and a 4-station training machine; the latter I can probably replace with smaller equipment).

I will probably integrate a patio door directly into the training room and bring the equipment into the room through it. I just have to hang a big curtain in front of it; my neighbor doesn’t necessarily need to watch me training

Do you think you will still enjoy it in 5 or 10 years?

You have to come up with something like "curtain" first ;) :P

Seriously though: it makes sense to plan for a wide patio door with a low-lying terrace, which can then also be used for morning exercise or something like that. Due to the slope, it should also be difficult for anyone to look in on you. But that would be (see curtain) the least of your problems. Fresh air supply is also ensured.
And if you don’t like morning exercise: by the time you’re 70, you’ll be doing your squats on the terrace anyway :)

Best regards Yvonne
