Groundwater too high for basement

Sorry, didn’t know which forum this fits best.
The following...
In February, a soil survey was done and it already stated that groundwater can be found at a depth of 1.8m. Because of the basement, we have to go deeper than 3m. Now, our immediate neighbors had no problems with the groundwater at all. They built with a basement and everything was fine. The only difference... they each started digging in May/June and we wanted to start in March.
The construction company said that to stay cost-efficient, they would suggest waiting 1-2 months until the groundwater has settled a bit. We suspect that it just rained too much in January/February?
The construction company said that of course we could also pump out, etc., but then we would have to expect additional costs of about 10k. Is it really that expensive?
We want to wait until the end of May and then check again if the groundwater is now deeper and if we can start. If we still have groundwater then, there probably is no other choice than to pump it out, right?

Or change the plan to a layout without a basement. I would seriously consider that with such a groundwater level

The strange thing is that just 10 meters away in a straight line there were no problems at all. Only a few years ago. The same company built 50% of all the houses there and was surprised themselves...

Groundwater at 1.80 is not a problem if you build a [weiße Wanne]. Pumping out costs machines, electricity, and personnel. 10k can already be possible. Civil engineering is simply not free of surprises.

Not strange. If neighbors had to be the same as oneself, then all properties would be somehow equal. Somewhere the groundwater begins, somewhere the clay layer. Somewhere underground lies the mountain that you only guess at 1000 meters deep. I would not bother with a cellar if there is groundwater. What you see when digging will eventually press against your own house – even if a white tank promises safety, it still feels strange.

What do you need the basement for? Is the property large enough to create storage space elsewhere?

What does the basement cost, including soil removal ([Schadstoffklasse Z0] or worse?) and pumping out?

Technically not a big problem with a white tank with a high monitoring level, the only question is whether it is cost-efficient. And even the slightest material defect leads to permanent trouble...
