I don't understand what you mean Where do you see catalog prices there? The prices he wrote include transport and planting. Just net prices though ;)

yes me too. The prices do not match at all with those given to me by the [Garten-Landschaftsbauer]. Stammumfang 18-20 costs 190,- there.

I am very confused by the ease with which many forum participants here want to let the landscape gardener off the hook as a professional company.

I have understood the situation as follows.

1. received an offer for the original garden design. Including correct VAT declaration. Presumably still 19% at that time.
2. Landscape gardener starts work.
3. During the work process, there are various change requests.
4. Alessandro asks what it costs and receives answers such as the additional offers shown in the WhatsApp screenshot.

OF COURSE, as the end customer, I assume these are gross prices. And just because it says 405 euros there, that does not immediately indicate to me as a layperson that these could be net prices. Our general contractor also charges extra sockets at 49€ or inserts for ceiling spotlights in the concrete ceiling at 80€ - of course gross.

I find the argument that those who only look for mistakes and no solutions to be short-sighted, especially when it comes to 6000€ at the end of the construction phase. This is about finding a solution. Both sides want to talk.

Why do we Germans take so much pride in our craftsmanship? Precisely because of the good training with masters & co. where such basics belong in the training. When I see here that additional costs of 6000€ are being pushed onto the customer retroactively or that in other threads butchers build houses, I have serious doubts about the level of training in Germany. It seems a lot of tuition fees still need to be paid.

PS: I always ask whether the price quoted to me is gross or net. I think Alessandro will have learned this lesson for the future, hopefully the landscape gardener as well when dealing with consumers.

That's exactly how I see it too! I am someone who always pays on time, always settles debts immediately, and treats everyone fairly and compensates them accordingly. But I also expect that from the other side. Yes, the landscape gardener also works for companies, municipalities, and cities where he probably only deals with net prices. But why should I now swallow the bitter pill because he gives me (even if probably unconsciously) the wrong prices?

With my heating (the thread is now starting to look Shiny-suspicious), the heating engineer also firmly claims to have done everything right, although I have learned from several sources (including professionals) that the installation spacing is too wide. If he would admit that he did a shitty job, he would already be highly regarded by me. But since he is stubborn and still claims, even after I’ve shown him my photos, that he specifically installed underfloor heating and that everything is fine, I’m slowly getting pissed off! I am increasingly refusing to pay for other people’s mistakes, who drive around in Porsches and Maseratis.

I believe it has been asked several times, but perhaps I overlooked it? Has there ever been a written offer with specified VAT? Or only prices on a piece of paper?
