Now please don’t make such a big deal about the weight. Sure, it’s exhausting, but together with two buddies, a crate of beer, and a grill, it works great. You can already tell, people are getting more and more fearful and lazy. And companies make fat money off that.

So, in case anyone is interested. I have decided on Ytong.

The wall to the neighbor and the garage door will be built with 24 cm PP6 Ytong, so the highest raw density. The other two walls will be built with 17.5 cm PP6 Ytong. That is more than enough.

Who says Ytong is light. No way, the 24 cm PP6 weigh a lot and I think from a soundproofing point of view and for hanging shelves, objects, that is definitely sufficient.

Hello,

I am facing the same problem and just can't decide whether KS or aerated concrete, both in 17.5.

: Have you already had experience with your garage? Was Ytong ultimately the right decision?

I have read that the room is somewhat cooler in summer with KS, due to the high bulk density.
Aerated concrete lets more heat through.
In winter, it's the other way around. There, PB beats KS, although with an unheated "garage" I think it doesn't matter. It gets cold with both. For the moment, I get warmth elsewhere.

Hello everyone!

I allow myself to bump the thread again because we have similar thoughts and considerations. Ytong vs. sand-lime brick. Ultimately, both have their advantages and disadvantages, which for me are somewhat balanced, and in the end, probably the price (material + labor costs) would decide.

However, there is the following consideration: Our garage will be built in the gap between our house and the neighbor’s existing garage. A flat roof is mandatory in our case. As far as I understand, the garage ceiling will be sealed watertight towards our house. On the other garage side of the neighbor, a gap of a few centimeters is supposed to be left so that the garages stand separated from each other.

Question about this: Does the outside of my wall need any "treatment" against moisture, or is there nothing to consider? Just masonry and done? After all, you won’t be able to access it anymore. Does the moisture not penetrate into the interior?

Of course, sealing will be done on both sides, and also flexibly on both sides.
