I am very satisfied with KS. For example, there is a tire rack with 8 wheels attached. I would never build a garage/shed where you can't hang anything.

How is your wall construction, just KS and plaster, or is there something else on the outside?

We have wood on the outside. Plaster is of course also possible. Inside is plastered, one could also simply paint the KS

Our garage is built from 17.5 sand-lime bricks, I am satisfied with it. I have never thought about soundproofing, but I can imagine that the garage door will be the weak point of the entire construction.

You want to build the house and garage yourself?
Didn't you start a thread last Thursday about the (in your opinion) unreasonable costs for widening a planned bay window by the construction company?

It probably doesn't matter how you build... we used 24ytong and have already had a party or two in there. If you party from October to March, you'll never really get the place warm anyway. Just turning on a fan and working out doesn't work with either option.

In terms of sound, you didn't really notice much in the garage. You just have to decide what's more important to you:

Kalksandstein
- better sound insulation
- more space in the garage
- more stable

Ytong
- better thermal insulation
- easier to work with

Weak points are usually the windows, doors, gates... of course, you also have to insulate the roof. We put about 16 or 18 cm of insulation between the rafters.

Hey,

that was exactly me. But I am still in the process of clarifying that.

We want to build the house ourselves, although the first row will be laid by a demonstration master. I think it’s a great concept. I hope the weather cooperates.

You can always build the garage on the side, or once the shell is up. There is no rush. Only the decision regarding the type of brick is still missing here.
