Sorry, it’s done a bit hastily, but as a basic idea:

Square (or nearly square) rooms are always pretty bad for eating + living, so you probably have to make a compromise.

Personally, I would probably do it like in one of the two designs. In the first, the dining table is nicely in the light, and from the couch you also have the possibility, thanks to the U-shape, to enjoy the view through the corner window without twisting.
Disadvantage: The double door at the top of the plan is a bit blocked by the dining table.

In the second attempt, the couch is fully brought into the center and positioned well for both the corner window AND the TV.
The disadvantage is that the dining table stands in a relatively dark corner.

But I don’t really find either design great. I would probably tend toward the second design.

Freestanding wall: width 150, height 180... So all approximate. Placed somewhere between the dining area and couch, we favor horizontal plan, below WF 39 ;)

Is a wood-burning stove actually supposed to be connected in the living room?

Is the kitchen furnishing planned as shown? A lot of space is lost because of this hallway door due to garage access.

, I don’t know how far along you are with the construction. I have also omitted the fireplace for now.

But I would probably:

[*]pull the kitchen level further in and not place the steps immediately after the, in my opinion, unfavorable door to the hallway. That door actually always has to be opened as a double door, but then it blocks the staircase going up.

[*]convert the door from the hallway into a single-wing door that is 100 cm wide, which also opens outwards and has a narrow glass element next to it,
[*]have the front door hinge the other way around,
[*]thus now only 1 table, measuring 180x90,

[*]a small parapet about 100 cm high in yellow, with the sofa behind it and the lowboard with TV on the right wall,
[*]the remaining existing living room furniture along the wall at the top of the plan,
[*]on the left, on the way to the living room terrace door, for example, you could also place bookshelves,
[*]in the upper right there would still be space for a reading chair with a super special view,
    [*]kitchen as drawn.
[*]the path to the kitchen from the upper floor also does not involve going up and down steps.

I thank you very much for your contributions and ideas.

We can no longer change the floor plan, as the base slab and partial basement including split-level already exist.

We will most likely decide on a free-standing wall, as suggested.

Best regards
Grobi
