Hello,

After countless discussions with our architect regarding the floor plan of our little house (...we are building on an already existing partial basement or slab).

The living/dining area is 50cm lower than the surrounding rooms (kitchen and hallway), so it is a split level.

The furnishing that the architect has drawn in for us is feasible but we don’t like it 100%. Since I have already received great ideas here during the planning, I am turning to you again with this topic. Do you perhaps have a few ideas on how to arrange the room?

A few details about the background:

- The wall to the kitchen (will be furnished differently than shown) is a parapet about 1 m high
- the large "corner windows" on the right side of the plan and top right offer a wonderful view over a valley
- by the way, we have a large U-shaped sectional sofa

Of course, we have also thought about it and always somehow fail with the placement of the TV.
1. Naturally, the wall on the bottom of the plan would be an option, but then one would not be able to enjoy the beautiful view sitting on the couch

2. Another idea was to build a half-high parapet from left to right and then hang the TV on it. On the opposite side of the parapet (i.e. top of the plan), one could place a bench as seating for the dining table. The couch would then go to the wall on the bottom of the plan. The problem then would be that further furnishing with cabinets would be difficult and I doubt that one could look over the parapet while sitting on the couch.

3. Another possibility would be to place the couch at the top right of the plan and hang the TV on the terrace wall (left side of the plan). Then one would have the view behind them as well.

I would be very happy if you could take a look at our plan and perhaps send us some ideas.

Thanks to you in advance.

Best regards
Grobi

Hopefully you are not expecting too much space in the garage. The cars are drawn too small.

Yes, we are aware of that, I believe an old Mini and an E-Class are marked. However, the garage layout was predetermined due to the basement, so nothing can be done about it.

Maybe you still have an idea regarding the furnishing of the living/dining room?!

Could you please provide the dimensions of the furniture you plan to use in the future?

No, I better don’t write anything about that, except that you should add 10cm to all dimensions for all furniture when planning, because a 2m cupboard does not fit on a 2m wall.

And that is certainly not an E-Class.... although... yes, from 1980...

New vehicles are significantly wider.

Thanks for your feedback :) You can be relied on

Gladly. There are a few pieces of furniture that we will definitely keep for now:

- U-shaped sofa (approx. 3.40m wide, approx. 2.20m deep)
- TV with 55 inch diagonal (148cm)
- Dining table 180cmx90cm

In addition, we would initially move our existing living room wall unit before getting something new in the medium term.

- Lowboard 220cm wide, 35cm high
- Display cabinet 180cm high, 80cm wide
- Wall cabinet 80cm high, 80cm wide

Best regards
