Access control or monitoring are not topics for me. I am building a single-family house and just want to keep up with the times a little! The debate about whether it makes sense or not, or the supposed imbalance between wanting to save money vs. still wanting to afford this or that, is actually pointless. On the one hand, everyone sets their priorities differently, and that is quite good. On the other hand, even with a certain demand for functionality, one can still want to pay attention to the price. For example, I drive a well-equipped Skoda Octavia, for which I would certainly have paid 20 thousand euros more at Audi with the same equipment. With the budget I had, I am totally satisfied with this "compromise." I had something similar in mind for the house. The site of Inotherm really looks very interesting! But am I reading correctly that they don’t install a motor lock, but an electric door opener?

We have a Kompotherm with Fuhr motor lock. I can't tell you the extra cost, the whole door cost a bit over 6k. The package consisting of the handle with integrated fingerprint and motor lock accounted for 1.9k of that, at least on paper.

No, that is not correct. They install a fully functional motor lock that fully locks the door every time it closes. With mechanical opening, it is fully unlocked again.

Our fingerprint is integrated into the handle. If you don’t like the door as on the standard models, they make almost all changes on request.

Attached is a picture of our door, which cost a total of EUR 5,400 (DB703 powder-coated).

The opposite is true; the self-locking locks I know are all mechanical; only when the motor function is desired does the so-called A-opener come into play.

However, there are also fully motorized locks.

Regarding comparing door prices, that only works with absolutely identically sized doors with identical equipment; everything else is like showing pictures of different cars and writing prices next to them.

But I'm not talking about doors that simply close mechanically. I'm talking about the door where a motor electromechanically locks the door every time. In the picture, you can see that it is a door with a side panel. Everyone can see that the door is not 4 meters high and wide – a 10 cm difference doesn’t make much of a difference in the price.

The locking does not happen electrically, but mechanically; only for the automatic unlocking is a motor needed.
