The fingerprint scanner of a door is not comparable to a mobile phone at all. For the door, the deeper layers of tissue are scanned, so a lifted fingerprint is completely useless. We have fingerprint scanners and remote controls for the door from FUHR, together with the matching motor lock and control, all in the door, nothing in the control box or elsewhere. My fingers work correctly about 95% of the first time, my husband’s, who has very worn and calloused working hands, maybe 60%, meaning he has to swipe several times. We do not use the remote controls so far; they are there in case we get new garage doors, so we can open them with the same remote. Back then, I couldn’t decide between a remote control (included with the "thick" motor lock multitronic) and fingerprint scan, so I just took both. A transponder would be too annoying for me because you still have to press a button or get very close with the transponder to the receiver. In that case, I might as well use the fingerprint scanner, which is definitely safer since the transponder can be stolen or lost, but the finger cannot. There was a surcharge of 2000 euros for the fingerprint scanner and motor lock; the entire door (1 side panel) cost 6000 euros. I thought up a code for our second front door (we have a front entrance on each floor), which I think is not bad at all. But it first has to be converted there, so that will take some time.
