Uh, I know many people with open kitchens who cook. Cook a lot. Order is subjective and that doesn’t change anything about open or closed. Find a peninsula as a workspace - not a kitchen island practical. Especially since they are usually deeper. Does not restrict, e.g. when rolling out dough.

However, with base cabinets, one should consider that in small kitchens, when working with more than one person, the following can happen: One person is standing at the cooktop. The second person wants to get something from the base cabinet. If this cabinet is now "overlong," the person at the cooktop has to take a big step back. Therefore, I would recommend dividing the cabinets well but not making one drawer >1m.

I cook a lot together in my kitchen - I find base cabinets up to 1m wide great; however, I find 120cm impractical for various reasons.

would also say 1 m for base cabinets. More I find impractical.

Of course that exists. It was completely non-judgmental and I didn’t want to imply anything about anyone. I just wanted to share what I’ve heard in conversations.

Hello everyone,

so we already cook a lot and gladly - basically every day. I am also not a big fan of kitchen islands, I think they are just currently trendy.

The floor plan as such unfortunately "has" to remain, it is not a new building where we can change everything, but the house already exists. For huge renovation measures, meaning completely changing EVERYTHING, the budget would be insufficient.

I like the idea of a U-shaped floor plan and then on the right side towards the living area a few tall cabinets.
