Hello,

You wrote that you definitely want to separate the kitchen from the living area. May I ask why?

Despite the overall spacious floor area, in my opinion, you are making your house look visually small.

My recommendation would be to reconsider the separated kitchen, the hallway on the upper floor, and the bathroom entrance area.

I fear that your hallway on the upper floor will be very cramped and especially dark. At least glass inserts in the children's room doors (privacy?) or a skylight in the stairwell area would definitely be something I would include in my considerations.

As practical as the small storage room on the upper floor is, my first choice would be to completely remove it to bring light and air into the attic.

Also, the relatively long path to the bathroom between the wall and the shower makes the otherwise spacious bathroom look visually small in my opinion.

I assume it is a fully tiled shower without glass inserts planned, right?

How long is the wall next to the shower entry? I think you either have to install a glass door here or expect water splashes from the shower in the bathroom.

Regards,

Dirk

I quite like it already!

I would widen the hallway slightly to the north (10-20 cm) and also take about 20 cm or so from the west side of the guest bathroom in favor of the utility room hose section; then, in my opinion, it’s still big enough.

I would make the kitchen passage bigger and consider installing another row instead of the seating area, possibly with a fold-down table – more workspace and storage, and you have the dining table right next to it. But: is there enough space for the dining area, for example if guests come over? Our ground floor layout is quite similar and we ultimately decided to make the dining area a bit more spacious with a small bay window (which I initially didn’t want either) in the hallway corner.

Does the office also fit a bed, in case you want to use it as a guest room? If not, I would consider whether the option could at least be kept open with a small shift of the door and/or windows. And overall, I would check one more time whether the exterior view on the south side wouldn’t look nicer if you arranged the windows there more symmetrically – I can’t tell so precisely from the elevation drawing now.

Personally, the angles in the attic rooms don’t bother me, and I also find the bedroom solution okay, but I would rethink the bathroom again. As it is now, a lot of space is wasted in the entrance area, I don’t like the washbasin in that position, and yes, the shower is dark. Maybe you could swap the washbasin and the shower, move the double casement window a bit, and plan an additional storage corner/chamber under the slant behind the shower.

Best regards,

Kaz

This will be rather critical – due to the roof slope, the shower will not reach the required height. Such a showerhead should be positioned at least 2.20 m high, a rain shower head even higher. Otherwise, people taller than 1.80 m will not enjoy the shower... Regards, Dirk

That's true, but I also meant to leave the shower far enough forward so that the room height fits and then have storage behind it... you'd have to try if it works; the built wall on the right would then be removed, so the access overall would be less cramped, in my opinion.

Everything about the house has been said. One note about the carport: Depending on how long and wide your entrance platform will be, it might be tight to park a car there. Is a car supposed to go there, or will it be a place for bicycles?
