Well, it doesn't necessarily have to be a different staircase shape, you can also just "simply" extend it. I think with a half-turned staircase with a width of 2 m, the length should already be 2.4 m. At least where we live, there are also staircase studios where you can try out staircases, or they might at least be able to tell you what dimensions such a staircase should have. Alternatively, there are also staircase calculators on the internet.

Well, simply extending and widening everything is not without problems, you have to consider the effects on the individual floors.

First of all, thank you very much. I will definitely discuss the staircase with my planner, but I fear that this really won’t be that easy. But we’ll see, maybe we can still find a solution. If not, we’ll just have to live with it.

Last night I had the idea that if the staircase is moved further to the right, we would have more space for the shower bathroom on the left in the attic. However, I’m not sure how that would work with the supply lines because the bathroom would then not be located above the other bathroom, etc.

No, that’s not possible. The staircase only has headroom exactly there at the top in the attic! I would approach the whole thing a bit differently, considering that you have 180 sqm plus the attic available including the basement. More should be possible if you take a closer look at the space requirements: for example, I would try to break up the narrowness on the ground floor (kitchen) by using a narrow 2/4 spiral staircase and giving up the storage room. I also question the space under the attic, why is there still a storage room here? There’s plenty of that in the basement. Better to create a more spacious feeling upstairs with little to no walls. The dressing room is not usable at all, only with bent head! On the other hand, you have one room too many on the upper floor.

Hmm, that’s of course true again about the headroom. Maybe an additional skylight would create more space?

How can I imagine a 2/4 quarter-turn staircase? I’m reluctant to give up the storage room on the ground floor because I simply find it very practical.

The storage room in the attic is supposed to become a walk-in closet. I think we will remove the partition wall. Also the other walls. That means the bedroom won’t have a door, but everything should be open. The planner drew it wrong...

Downstairs it really is tunnel-shaped. I thought if we reduce the hallway and kitchen, then it will feel different right away. I’m really hoping we get approval for the bay window. Or that our neighbor family doesn’t interfere with the freestanding structure...
