Okay, wow, I don't even know where to start, first of all thank you for the numerous messages and even sketches. All in all, we probably have to admit that a bungalow really is not the right choice.
We are building a bungalow with 140 sqm for two children and an office, and that is already a big box, and with one more room we probably would have dropped it. But we also only have "just" 770 sqm.
Yes, indeed our bungalow would really be a monster. And maybe also the reason why we hardly found any floor plans online for a bungalow with 3 children's rooms + office... thanks for the hint / experience report from you.
With this slope, a bungalow should just be possible. Here sketched, with the natural terrain deliberately unchanged to get a feel for the terrain
Thank you very much for the sketch Katja!
I hope I read it correctly: the slope drops from north to south by 2.60m over your property downward? Otherwise please correct me - in which corner is your highest corner? (...) And your bungalow doesn’t even have the 40cm exterior walls yet, right?
Answer regarding the slope will follow as soon as my husband is home. Everything probably stands or falls with that. So far we had classified the "slope" as not relevant – probably a big mistake. With a classic pitched roof house with ground floor + upper floor (and knee wall, without basement), you would also have to fill up anyway – but of course not as much as with a monster bungalow with 150 sqm floor area, of course. A basement was primarily a cost driver for us, but perhaps more suitable for the plot after all...?
Here I come again with my favorite example, the "Split Down" by Laux as inspiration (no, I really have nothing to do with them). That should fit quite well with a 1.20m slope. Although with 3 children I would really plan a 2nd shower/WC.
Thank you very much for the suggestion. We like it very much too, we haven’t looked into Split Down at all so far. Maybe it fits our plot well... but I also strongly believe that there are rather few specialists here when it comes to construction... we would like to commission a turnkey solution. With full-time jobs and a baby, we just can’t imagine it any other way right now... I will take a closer look at Laux.
(...) but I am also not a fan of inflexibility when you are already allowed and could do so much.
Yes, that is indeed the good thing when you have so many freedoms, but at the same time a difficulty. We feel like we have already thought through so many variations and now even came up with such a crazy idea as a bungalow, as you can see.
So that's it for now, I will respond to the other messages shortly. First here is an older draft, planned with a prefab builder.
