Should he tell you what you need and should build?

Of course not. However, I want to know exactly with which stones the basement of the garage is built, how the foundation is, etc. I had already planned to store other things there besides garden tools. Accordingly, I want to know from him whether the structural conditions for that are present.

I will not address the phrasing of your post due to your previous helpful comments.

My wording still works perfectly You know what a thermal envelope is?

Just think about it yourself. The general contractor is not going to haul in 5 different types of stones. There are 2, max 3 thicknesses of only one type. Whether you build the garage with 24cm stones or 36cm ones makes little financial difference in the end. It probably won't work with 17cm stones if another floor is planned above. So it can just be the thicker ones and you include the space in the thermal envelope. I would do that anyway. The foundation does not differ at all from the rest. The only thing you have to pay more for is the heating loop in the floor along with the floor construction. In return, you get a fully functional room. I wouldn't even think twice about it. Here is a suggestion right away on how you could use it, although I also slightly enlarged the garage for bicycles & co. But it doesn't have to be that large.
