That doesn't matter much. Real measurements can be seen in the architect's plan; the counter-draft by the OP makes the delta between current and desired condition recognizable in a different way. As a basis for requested construction companies to present suitable alternatives or to develop them with the builders, that is sufficient. The builders do not have to retrain as architects just because their first professional was a shot in the dark.

The program we used is unfortunately not very user-friendly, so you can't just make the walls thicker or simply move them. It was more of an attempt to see if it could be solved more sensibly with a different staircase positioning or if our wishes are completely incompatible.

We have now redesigned it once again based on your suggestions, with a combined HAR, utility room, and pantry (space for a freezer and a shelf for storage) on the ground floor and an office upstairs instead. The exterior dimensions now fit, except for a few centimeters. The corner at the top between the office and one of the children's rooms is not well resolved, but the door has to go there somehow, and the living room is also a bit unusual in shape. By the way, we started with the upper floor to know where the staircase is better placed, but that's just a side note.

I called the hopefully forthcoming conversation that because we are unfortunately still waiting for a final response for an appointment (an email with proposed dates was sent out Monday evening). In the meantime, we plan to take legal advice through our legal expenses insurance beforehand, as the signs currently point towards separation. However, we will probably not see any of the money we already paid again...
From your point of view, is it sensible to show the drawings to the architect? We fear that he will then just think in one direction again and "clean up" our drawings.

As I said, you don't have to become architects yourselves. By the way, I prefer graph paper as "planning software" (and even a pen, who cares). Start with conceptualizing and calculating; drawing too early just causes more frustration. I would be lying not to share this suspicion.

hm... that depends on what you want from the architect (?). Personally, instead of new ideas and designs, I would rather bring a pre-formulated "cancellation agreement"... GD

I'm getting back to you. The architect sent us new ideas before the meeting. We discussed these and our drafts, which was very constructive. That's why we wanted to give it another chance.

We have now received new drafts that implement our wishes much better.
To explain: EG bottom left combines utility room, HAR, and space for supplies/freezer; OG top right bedrooms, bottom right bathroom (yes, still very large, I know); middle right office; left the children's rooms.

We considered moving both walls of the office downwards to get a bit more space in front of the bed and a smaller bathroom (then of course not with the drawn-in T). The entrance area somehow doesn't quite convince me yet, but I can't clearly pinpoint why.

What do you think of the new drafts? Are there any dealbreakers again that we've missed?

Are these phone screenshots the new drafts from your architect, or did he deliver it a bit more "precisely"?
