Actually, the plot comes through the house building company, so our decision fell on the construction company (the plot is dirt cheap, we'd be pretty stupid if we didn't do it). I myself would also prefer a solid house, but oh well... I know the house building company through my work, so our choice fell on the company.

The land is directly from the district, which is why it is so cheap (untraceable community of heirs from the 18th century blah blah, therefore sale via the district). The acquisition is a bit complicated. So, the purchase is directly from the municipality, not from the construction company, so I think we only have to pay the real estate transfer tax on the land – correct me if I'm wrong :)
