When I see what our child costs and you have 3, then it is already a lot of money that you have to invest. And it keeps increasing. Sometimes the teachers seem to have lost touch with reality.

Excursion here 70 euros, school meals 80 euros, holiday camp 800 euros for 2 weeks, we still pay 180 euros per month for school fees because it's a private school,
travel costs since there is no school bus are also 100 euros per month for fuel, books, donations, it's not a problem for us, but with 3 children it is definitely a challenge. It should not be underestimated. And of course, I don't want to save on the child.

Whereas TE currently with only one income even with 3500€ housing costs still has over 4000€ for the rest, plus bonuses etc. That will work out. If someone has 5k net income and pays 1k rent, no one says anything.

You just really have to keep in mind that these are a lot of debts and nothing must go wrong for the main earner, and that for a long time. That would not be for me. We have a similar net income and I also earn well over 5k net, but we have much less burden...

What would be the alternative? Waiting for interest rates or construction costs to go down?

So I calculate €6,250 + €700 = just under €7,000. Minus €3,500 loan means €3,500 left. And then there are the costs besides the loan, which are included in the rent. Insurance, reserves, garbage, electricity, gas, water, sewage, property tax. That quickly adds up to €4,000, €4,500 for the house.

And then there’s €2,500 to €3,000 left... with 3 kids who certainly have little desire to give up much because the house is so insanely expensive.

People say the third child isn't that expensive. But that's not really true, because almost everything is designed for the average family with 2 children. Family tickets for admission, standard floor plans for houses, cars (3 child seats never fit on the back seat)... everything.

And I mean maybe it’s also on us. But with 2 children aged 6 and 1, we’re already sweating quite a bit; my wife can hardly work more than 4 hours. Picking up, bringing, all that takes an incredibly huge amount of time. Then the older one has hobbies, friends, she has to go back and forth, etc. With 3 children, 5, 3, 1, I honestly can’t imagine at all that there’s time left for a part-time job if there’s also a house and garden to take care of.

The story about the main earner is, in my opinion, nonsense. If one earner drops out for a longer time or even completely, then 90% of all homeowners go bankrupt or lose their house. It doesn’t matter if the house costs are €2,000 or €4,000 per month.

Oh, and repayment first 1%, then 2%. So in the end a term of... 35, 40 years?

Oh, I see... and you want to do the outdoor facilities yourself for 10,000 EUR. Just the materials for a terrace quickly cost 3,000 or 4,000 EUR, and a cistern isn’t free either. You also have to buy or rent the tools... that can also easily run into a few thousand. A kitchen for 15,000 EUR is certainly possible, but then you’re really looking at Roller with in-house brand appliances, unless you know a kitchen builder or go to Ikea. No new furniture for the rest? Hard to imagine. No interior furnishings at all?

And 150m² with 3 kids is actually rather small. Then there definitely won’t be an office for home office... as I already said. Germany is designed for families with 2 children, unfortunately that’s how it is.

The 150 sqm area is enough for 5 people, you can even manage with fewer. However, I only see two children's rooms upstairs in the VBH Edition 460. Are you putting the third one downstairs in the study then? Or is Maxime 460 a different floor plan that neither the search on their website nor Google want to find?
