Thank you for the many experiences!

I think we will then also place a bulk order with the local beverage supplier and otherwise occasionally put out cake & sandwiches or meat sausage and minced raw pork.

Yes, the relationship changes because you no longer have a stairwell between you and the service provider.
Also, many carriers usually have the area to themselves... there may be holiday substitutes, but personal contact is there if you want it.
Ring and run is a rule that was introduced because of Corona. This is called contactless handover.

I at least know our DHL lady. After she once hit our car, we got to know each other a bit better^^. But whatever, the insurance took care of it. She has been responsible for us for many years, first in the rented apartment and now in the house. Of course, sometimes it changes and with the other delivery people there are always different people, but the DHL lady and the mailwoman are always the same and you sometimes exchange a few words. Both were also previously in the rented apartment, as I said.

A few hundred meters away we have a beverage store, which will also make a good profit from us twice next year. Construction site and school enrollment...^^

One should not overlook the positive side effects. For example, the refrigerator. It was thus a central meeting point. We had also provided a table and chairs. The tradespeople mostly ate together in a colorful mix. This way, in addition to private matters, construction procedures were also coordinated. At least I had the feeling that more hand-in-hand work was done. Among us office people, communication zones have been created in the hallways for some time.

As my father always used to say, the most important information at work is usually received during lunch...

I also occasionally handed something to the disposal workers. This meant that trash stacked next to the containers was taken away without grumbling. From walks, I know that this was not done on other streets in the village...

Of course, if the tradespeople did only a poor job, I would have stopped it too, but except for the tiler, we had no outstandingly bad ones.

Sometimes it is just a nice giving and occasionally you get something back.

[RING AND RUN] is a rule that was introduced because of Corona. This is called contactless handover. If you wait to see if someone answers the intercom, okay.

Craftsmen who work here in our presence receive 10.- for a single day if we like their work. For several days, it's 20.- and I never give it to the Kapo. Drinks are provided, not everyone needs them, and if I’m having a good day, when the guys have to work hard and might even be strangers in the area, I sometimes cook something good for them and arrange a dining place where they can be undisturbed, like a garden shed or something. Of course, money is not a must, but recognition and respect for other people’s work (...where you can recognize the good...) should definitely be noticeable. Our builders had to really push through bad weather. Because it was wet and cold, I rented a break room nearby for their pauses so they could also warm up. Their foreman forbade them from using this room because, as he said, they would have needed longer. I returned the room later unused. Best regards Gabriele
