O.K., you really have to go to the people. But that is an important part of my job.

The postman also comes by your place every day and you will hardly invite him to CPM (as I learned).

Someone once wrote a post here and was appalled. The client had also treated the employees to coffee and cake, and in the end, she was charged expensively by the boss for this attendance time when the workers did nothing.

We don’t give tips to craftsmen. But water, coffee, of course, is available for anyone who wants it. They are also, of course, allowed to sit and take their breaks either in the kitchen at the dining table or in the garden (which I found natural.... but the electrical apprentice had worked here for a while and always ate his bread at the construction site; it turned out he thought he wasn’t allowed to sit in the garden and I didn’t say anything explicitly because I thought it was self-evident). We have also brought cake sometimes, which was always well received. Next year we are getting a new roof and a new coat of paint; we will definitely have craftsmen here for 4-6 weeks, and then I will also put cold drinks in the fridge. But we don’t provide regular meals, and I don’t offer a selection of 10 different drinks. As I said, I will provide water, coffee, occasionally cake, and maybe 2-3 crates of mixed lemonades. If they take it, great, and if not, then we will just drink it ourselves afterward.

Tip? For what? Of course, there is no such thing. Most people don't deserve it anyway. There are cake and drinks, but in hindsight I also regret that with some botschers.

Never think that would improve the work performance even minimally, it does not.

We have a nice and slim receptionist. If she ate my cake every day, she wouldn't look like that anymore.

I have no problem with not getting anything, I receive my salary anyway and can buy my own food. Drinks are voluntarily provided by the employer. The question is, why doesn't the master craftsman provide drinks for his employees? The craftsmen are currently fighting hard for good personnel and have adjusted their prices well.

Yes, I also tip the catering staff or my hairdresser. But I do that at the end, when I am satisfied, and not in between in the hope that they don't mess up. Besides, tipping on an economic level is ultimately nothing other than (state-tolerated) undeclared money and, in a way, actually promotes low-wage sectors and consequently old-age poverty.
