The rest, i.e., 230 sqm (terrace, paths, carport & driveway) are to be filled and compacted with excavation material and the addition of 25 cm mineral concrete + compaction. That amounts to €6700 gross. That means you will have to subtract at least 25 cm everywhere again. Where there is garden soil, 25 cm of topsoil will be applied. Where everything is supposed to be solid, 25 cm of mineral concrete + 5 cm of gravel will be applied. You also have to subtract the covering.

Therefore, I myself also have problems calculating the approximate excavation that will be refilled.

EDIT:
Of course, all still without L-bricks

Backfilling and placement look like this for us:

[*]Refilling the circulating working space or between the strip foundations with gravel sand = 1240€
[*](Additionally, no idea why) Contingency item: refilling the working space with compactable/permeable excavation material = 3100€
[*]Creating the rough grading around the site with the excavation material available on the property. Applying topsoil is not included = 1120€

That amounts to 5460€ just for filling the working space and rough grading.
I don’t quite understand the two items regarding the filling of the working space either. Both items are included in the final price.

EDIT: We do not want to have things like the terrace, driveway, and other external ancillary facilities done by this civil engineer.

Okay, after I spent almost an hour on the phone with the civil engineer, here is a brief report:

[*]All positions refer to a larger scope of work than originally planned. Driveway, terrace, or other ancillary facilities should not be included in the offer. This means the price will decrease here.
[*]Completely omitting the removal of soil will be difficult: Our property is apparently too small to hold the excavation and at the same time carry out further work on it. It would probably be necessary to store it on neighboring properties. We are currently working on clarifying this.

All in all, we will (probably) come in about 10,000 EUR cheaper if we still require the removal of soil. If not, another 5,000 EUR can be reduced.

That's true! Nobody is telling you fairy tales there.
With us, the soil is excavated directly and loaded onto the transporter. From a certain point onward, excavation and backfilling happen simultaneously.

So nothing has to be stored there???

Don't get me wrong: I'm not accusing anyone of talking nonsense. But at the same time, I'm honest about some things and say: "Phew, I didn't expect or plan for that."

Removing the spoil was initially just a cost issue for us. The idea was "If the earth stays there for now, we save 9,000 euros all at once." Of course, the surplus would have had to be removed later anyway.

When I think about it, the material goes straight from the pit into the truck and is eventually used for backfilling, I somehow feel it has to be the other way around. Keep backfilling until you have the desired level and THEN haul away.

Maybe I wrote it unclearly. Only the part that is not needed for backfilling is excavated and taken away once and for all. The rest is excavated and backfilled. Whether it is excavated first and backfilled with the spoil and the rest excavated and hauled away doesn't matter. It just shouldn't be excavated and stored on the side. Then you see how much is backfilled and transport the rest away. Additional work steps + idle time for excavator and truck also cost money.
