That is the right answer! Your developer knows the extra cost including their margin. Have you already signed? Then you are at their mercy. If not, you might still be able to negotiate something.

Unfortunately, the crystal ball is not in the house right now ... just saying .. the storage room could be located directly next to the bathroom, but it could also be at the completely opposite end of the apartment right in the middle of the bedrooms. So what exactly do you want to hear here? I can only say, like my predecessors ... ask your builder.

I can only agree with all the previous speakers - ask your developer, he can give you an amount. With this amount, you can ask here again whether it is okay or totally overpriced. But then also with exact details, specifically WHERE the storage room is and exactly which parquet is to be used in which area.

Does the developer offer these modifications optionally, i.e., are they already pre-planned? It could become expensive if new planning documents need to be created, new measurements and quantity calculations, etc.

So, for an 85m² apartment I have customized the following: - Parquet everywhere except utility room instead of tiles (extra charge: approximately 30,-/m²) - Underfloor heating everywhere instead of radiators (extra charge: approx. 4000,- - was the most expensive item) - extra water connection in the floor for the sink on the kitchen island: 150,-) - Roof dome in the hallway in front of the bedrooms (1500,00) - various sockets (70,-/each)

I have deselected: - predefined tiles everywhere (approx. 30,-/sqm) - Shower: only bar with shower head, no rain shower from the ceiling. Simple acrylic shower tray with minimal edge - no washbasin taken over the BT (approx. 800,00). I installed it later after the handover - no kitchens over the BT. I also installed that later (6500,00).

So my customization added up to "only" 4000 euros in total. That is my tip: if you need to watch the costs a bit, then try to deselect elsewhere. Installing an Ikea/whatever kitchen afterwards is not difficult. Likewise choosing and mounting a washbasin. You can even lay tiles in the utility room yourself easily.

If money is no object: choose what you like. Every day I’m glad that I don’t have tiles in the living room. I think the extra cost was completely worth it.
