...if only they could also be opened from the outside

Actually, I don't find it uninteresting at all, you don't have to go through the whole house when you get garden tools from the basement, etc.

Just as a reminder before one gets confused:

The sofa usually has a clean, closed, and neat upholstery on the back, so from the outside (you can see this through the window) everything looks nice. A TV stand, on the other hand, has some unsightly openings from which various cables hang, black, dusty plastic lives out its existence on the back of the TV... -> sofa is acceptable.
Also just imagine how it looks from the inside when the side closure of a window is broken by something like that.

Just a reminder: 1 sqm window regularly illuminates 10 sqm of room.
Think about whether you occasionally enjoy the view while doing your daily work or if you sit down and watch. How long can you sit and watch?

I really like that. The window lights up the hallway in this corner, the stairway to the basement when it is open, and the door is opened as needed.
It is a nice exit for the evening cigarette, the sundowner, the laundry that has to dry outside.

Have you ever considered swapping the kitchen + pantry with the living room? As it is furnished now, you end up carrying plates through the dining area instead of going directly from the kitchen outside. Then, the furnishing of the kitchen and living room would probably be easier. The paths to the terrace are also clear – straight through the middle.

Here sketched without a pantry – because I really find the kitchen quite large then. But you could also move the kitchen unit to the left side of the plan and add a pantry behind it.

The wall by the TV is about 2m wide. I think that should be sufficient. I don't particularly like turning the sofa. However, in terms of space utilization, it would have advantages.

I had also once considered the other layout of the kitchen and living room, and it's certainly not a bad option. But I never really liked the living room, and above all, I would like the possibility to separate the living room, for example with a sliding door. That is no longer possible.

Upstairs, I had also once thought about placing the master bedroom all the way to the left, under the bathroom, with a walk-in closet next to it. But that always resulted in terrible floor plans for the children's rooms. Maybe someone here still has a good idea? An advantage would be the proximity to the bathroom and possibly better furnishing options for the bedroom?

Just briefly about the changed entrance area, which was the original topic
Are the dimensions sufficient as shown? No one responded to that, so I conclude that it’s not that bad?

Upstairs, I would find placing the parents' bed facing east quite good. But what about the window in the east? Completely gone? Then something would be missing on the facade from the outside.

Or alternatively a completely different version, as briefly mentioned in the previous post. I would almost prefer the area of bathroom-parents' bedroom-dressing room like that, but I find the children's rooms bad. Do you have any ideas about this?

Many of your drafts still work. But beautiful or award-worthy is something else.

I miss depth in the entrance area. The 1m cabinet looks quite tiny. But it still works.
The guest WC is tiny - but it still works.
The kitchen is hard to furnish, but it’s still possible.
The living room area is too narrow - but if it doesn’t bother you, it’s still okay.

That’s how it goes across the board. The rooms upstairs are okay - but nothing that blows me away.

You initially only wanted to talk about the stairs. Now the matter is expanding, which I definitely welcome. But slowly, the information from the pinned questionnaire (see initial thread) is starting to be lacking.
