Hello My Metod kitchen is now over a year old and the following problem has appeared: In a tall cabinet, there is an 80 cm hinged door on the lower part with 2 pieces of 153-degree Utrusta hinge dampers. When I want to close the hinged door with a push as usual, the door now stays about 5 cm open. I have already tried lubricating the hinges with WD40 oil, but it does not help. The door does not close completely on its own. When I remove the dampers, I notice that the door is very smooth-moving. Is it therefore due to the dampers? But I have also already exchanged the dampers for other dampers from another hinged door, but unfortunately the result has not improved. Does anyone have advice? Best regards Section chief

Hello,

maybe the spring in the hinges is a bit stretched (or perhaps broken in one hinge)? You could operate the door with only one damper or replace the hinges.

Or the door has warped and is no longer completely flush. Also check if a mounting plate has shifted in height.

Thank you! With only 1 damper, the damping effect is too low. I haven't noticed that the door is warped, but I will check again this evening. The hinge springs should also be fine, but I will check those today as well. Somehow I suspect the dampers. Could it be that they become stiffer over time (due to dust or other dirt) and thus the damping effect increases? The dampers I used for the replacement I took from the door of another tall cabinet, which also has 153-degree hinges. This tall cabinet has a total of 5 hinges because it consists of a split front (80 120). Possibly, the higher damping effect on this tall cabinet is not as noticeable due to the higher number of hinges (and therefore more springs)? Best regards Section Chief

It is difficult to say anything definitive about the dampers. The effect can also weaken over time. If you have another door of the same size, try swapping them as a test.
