Do you have a tendency towards perfectionism when it comes to the house?

I believe for the difference you can let the heat pump charge your buffer for a few centuries. ;)

We also started out perfectionistically, and regarding the underfloor heating, I remained somewhat strict with my wishes – sensitized by Alessandro’s thread. The rest just annoyed me after a while. Constantly making decisions. We then only half-heartedly took care of it and gave our approval. The main thing was to finally be finished and move in.

I was kind of semi-perfectionistic during the selection phase (built with BT). There wasn’t more to it than choosing doors and tiles. In hindsight, I still thought that I let my life be determined by world-changing decisions during this phase that are totally unimportant. How many sockets where, doors painted or repainted, washbasins here or there. Somehow, none of it is that important. Once I was in the house, all of that was pretty unimportant and I could devote myself to nicer and more important things again. The house is important to me, but not every detail. The furniture is what really dresses the house properly, I think. Since I moved in, it’s also cozy. Despite some shortcomings (on both sides :D), my house suits me and I find that nice.

I now think I should have taken painted doors everywhere. And oak stair treads instead of beech treads were money thrown away. Otherwise, I’m super satisfied, also with the self-put-together Ikea kitchen and the beautiful tiles in the hallway which I can really enjoy.

well at least the thread helped someone ;-)
I can also live with the 10% extra cost due to my botched underfloor heating. There are other things where I can save :p

Oh dear, these are things that probably wouldn’t catch my attention. I hope my husband notices such things. We will probably be on the construction site daily as well. We have the time, but I’m also worried about annoying the workers. I myself don’t appreciate when someone constantly looks over my shoulder at work and assume it’s the same with the construction workers. But perhaps I’m wrong.

If you planned your house yourself and can read a drawing, you notice things like that. I always asked if coffee and drinks were wanted, then a conversation would start. Then I’d ask a question now and then; most of them were happy when someone showed interest. You don’t stand directly behind the people watching their fingers for hours. And they are used to that. One even told me right away that he only wanted to be photographed from behind and absolutely not to appear on any social media (which would be obvious to me). But he had had different experiences.

We just want a good "that feels right" feeling - as long as that is not there, we invest time. For some things, that is reached quite quickly, for other things, it takes longer.
