Hello everyone,
we have a newly built house and have been dealing with the topic of parquet flooring these days. For the living room (ground floor) we will take a normal multi-layer parquet. For our other 4 rooms, however, we initially wanted to take a vinyl floor because of high parquet costs. Then some people recommended a "veneer floor" to us as well. This is basically also a parquet with a very, very thin wear layer.
Advantages: inexpensive, parquet look, warm underfoot... basically all the advantages of parquet
Disadvantages: you cannot sand it down.
Several people said so far that sanding is actually not a real disadvantage, since nowadays almost no one gets their floors sanded anyway. Tastes change as well, so with the veneer floor you have the 'advantage' that after e.g. 15 years—if the wear bothers you—you can have something completely different installed.. But you don't have to pay a lot for parquet from the start. So price-wise we are at 30€/m2 for a veneer floor from the company Kährs. With real parquet you pay at least 60€ nowadays.
Do you have any experience with this covering? We are not looking for a covering that we have to live with for life.. If in 15 years the wear looks so bad, we can choose something else. That’s also fine.
Thanks in advance for your experiences.
