Did you paint the interior yourselves? Painting work done by oneself

We painted everything ourselves and did the plastering on the drywall ourselves. We plastered so cleanly and neatly that we didn’t have to sand anything. After a year, once everything had settled, we repaired the settlement cracks accordingly and then had wallpaper applied where wallpaper was supposed to go (this was also the advice from the wallpaper installer, to wait a year before wallpapering). I would say, putting textured wallpaper on the wall and ceiling is still doable... but if it’s something else more elaborate, I would have it done professionally. Most of the walls we painted directly on the drywall panels, and it looks great.

As laymen (although I have helped more often at my parents' place before) we took 6 weeks including sanding walls and ceilings, treating with deep primer, wallpapering, and painting! I wallpapered together with my father, my wife helped with the painting.

6 weeks?? But on the side, so in the evenings and on weekends and not full-time, right?

3.5 weeks full-time. 2.5 evenings and weekends full-time.

Six weeks sounds really exhausting. How many square meters does the house have?

Well... you do save quite a bit of money, but it is still tiring and time-consuming. Therefore, I can definitely understand both parties.
