The worst thing is, you spend hours/days plastering, masking, and priming, and in the end, you don’t even see a result.
You said it - the many small tasks really steal your time.
The only rooms that were neither wallpapered nor plastered are the utility room and the storage room.
I just saw something from a colleague that shocked me.
She moved into her new terraced house about 1.5 years ago. It is built solidly, and the construction company has a good reputation. They definitely don’t belong to the cheap providers (especially since the house was built in a European neighboring country at a price I could never have afforded).
Now - after 1.5 years - such massive settlement cracks have appeared that wallpaper had to be removed and replastered in most parts of the house. The cracks were clearly visible THROUGH the (uncracked) wallpaper. She showed me a picture of a wall (after the wallpaper was removed) where the joint of every single brick was cracked.
The construction company is currently redoing everything under warranty (including the subcontracted painter) - but living again on the construction site after only 1.5 years.
We’ll see - maybe I can get the picture from her somehow - then I’ll post it here later.
I just hope this doesn’t happen to us as well. So far - after almost three-quarters of a year - nothing else has caught my attention.
