Hello everyone I wanted to get in touch again and share my experiences with you. We have now had the plan drawn up by an architect and have obtained quotes for the trades ourselves. We also organized the process ourselves. Known people did the tile laying and exterior plastering for us, and we saved about 25,000 euros compared to the offers. We did the garden and outdoor facilities ourselves with the help of an excavation company and a paver, and a lot of our own effort. How did we manage price-wise? We ended up at the same price. However, in addition to the tradesmen’s offer, we have: - completed outdoor facilities/sloping site - kitchen - furniture - central ventilation system - concrete stairs with solid wood covering instead of wooden stairs - better doors - wood stove - bathroom furniture plus better equipment - expensive tiles and flooring - built-in spotlights throughout the house Hope I haven’t forgotten anything. This also matches the experiences of others I have spoken to. Of course, you shouldn’t underestimate how much research work is involved and how much work it takes to get multiple quotes. I also imagined it would be much more difficult to coordinate the trades. To be honest, there was really nothing to it! Of course, we sometimes had one or two weeks of idle time in between, but for these savings, I gladly accept that. After a total construction time of 15 months, we moved into our house. And that even though we had problems with the screed because it dried poorly due to the weather. I would do it like this again every time!
