Me too. I belong to that group as well. I never said that no one can/should/wants to be an environmental pig. It is almost unavoidable. But when it comes to laying floors, it is very easy to avoid. In the end, everyone can do whatever they want.

We bought a terraced mid-terrace house built in 2000 from the existing stock. The place is still fairly up to date energetically (Class B) and has a moderate land consumption with 248 sqm of land. Additionally, there are two large oaks on our property. Living space is 98 sqm plus 35 sqm of expansion reserve in the attic, which is probably still moderate nowadays for 2 people plus likely soon offspring. The kitchen from the year of construction remains and will only be beautified with "health-friendly" paint and a new countertop. The bathroom also remains because it is still okay. Only the floor tiles and border were newly painted. I think that overall we are still doing quite well ;)

Are you now only interested in brands for design floors or what about my suggestion?

Correct :) Yes, primarily. The suggestion is good, I will definitely order samples. How is the installation with your floors? Floating or glued? How do you handle expansion joints with floating floors? Also, we have 2 steps in the living room, how would you solve the installation here? With parquet, that would initially be easier for me...

Hello everyone,

we went for a consultation about floor coverings in the house on Saturday.

In the end, we decided on a design floor because we liked it the most visually. The floor has the following properties: PVC and plasticizer-free, 30 years manufacturer's warranty (who needs that long??), usage class 33, low-swelling carrier plate, all-around V-groove including antistatic and antibacterial protective coating, Made in Germany, awarded the Blue Angel. Construction height 14 mm.

The price was €44.95 per sqm, since this is a leftover of 145 sqm, we would get it for nearly half the price. We need about 125 sqm + waste (the seller said 9%). So the stock is enough and there would be some left over, just in case.

What do you think? I am currently stuck on the construction height of 14mm, that sounds so thick, all the others were 8-10mm

I find design flooring (Vinyl blablabla) overpriced. But if you like the look... Have you only been to one floor exhibition? I would find that too little. We went to at least 5 different specialized retailers and hardware stores. We found what we were looking for with laminate at Obi. The Masterfloor 8.0 Pine Multistripe Barn. There was a 15% discount in Berlin on the Sunday when stores were open, and we quickly took advantage of it. And yes, 14mm is rather thick for vinyl. There must be something integrated, possibly not just impact sound insulation but some kind of special cork insulation thing.
