Hello,

I am looking for experiences with daylight lamps.
We have foregone windows in our basement (because of the costs for waterproof shafts and windows) and are now looking for a good lighting option.

Has anyone of you already had experience with daylight lamps?

Best regards
Robin

Hello Robson, my experiences with daylight lamps are limited to a desk lamp. I bought it because my study is quite dark. I am really satisfied with it.

I have daylight fluorescent tubes in the study, am satisfied with them, they provide good brightness. Today I would probably do that with LEDs, but back then they didn’t exist yet (or were not affordable and good).

LEDs work of course as well. But the daylight lamps are supposed to brighten the mood as well.

I am only aware of the effect of inhibited melatonin production, which occurs at wavelengths around 490nm.

But we only have LEDs now, and I don’t notice any influence on my circadian rhythm, nor on my sleep quality. Nowadays, LED light sources no longer have a huge peak in this range.

Especially in the basement, you don’t spend much/long time there, do you? I would try to avoid spots as much as possible and use many surface-mounted lights or indirect lighting.

The basement houses a hobby and playroom, so high-quality lamps should definitely be installed there.
