The most important, but also the most difficult thing: to make a plan for everything and everyone – and that's where it fails. Because if you have no idea, you can't make a plan either.

So: hire a planner – it costs money, many shy away from that. But that's how the spiral starts spinning again.

I guess you save far more than what a planner costs if you have your dream house fully planned out beforehand – with all the details.

What exactly do you understand by planner? Or rather, what would be the task and added value of a planner when it comes to paying a price for a bathroom upgrade whose profit margin appears extremely high to the customer?

What do we want to do? Nothing. The additional price is openly communicated to us, and no one is obligated to buy. If the price seems so expensive to us that we would simply consider it a rip-off, we have to decide for ourselves whether the rain shower and the washbasin are worth that much to us to want to pay the exorbitant price or not.

As it reads for us here, and I find this exchange extremely helpful for that: a self-installation is not an option.

When in doubt: stick to the standard. You won’t be sitting in the bathtub daily nor standing side by side happily brushing your teeth at the same time as someone else. With us, all surcharges were very moderate and the initial offer was not ruinous either. By the way, there are indeed some products that are more expensive. The 0815 acrylic bathtub 70x170 costs €200 - the 90x190 enamel with body shape €1000 - but well, you’ve already ruled that out for yourself. Another alternative is changing the developer...

Furthermore, we find 1000 euros on top of the standard for the washbasin and rain shower extreme. This may also be based on the fact that we now have more and more overview of other extras and accordingly do not know whether 1000 euros for a washbasin is very extreme, when that would be half the cost of a significantly nicer front door...

Especially at the sink, you can initially take the standard and replace it later. (it is significantly cheaper and not difficult - and you initially have 1000€ left and can later - if the money is still available - upgrade) often they have the same fittings, otherwise there are only 2 holes for 2 new threaded rods. The toilet holder, on the other hand, is built into the wall and corresponds to the toilet seat that is being installed. There is also a certain standard here.

With the bathtub and shower it is more difficult and you should put in what you want to use later right away.

We don't want to change anything in the bathroom, and a bathtub is certainly nice and I will probably lie in it more often on Sundays - but overall, a bathtub is currently too unimportant to me to spend extra money on it. With an average height and normal build, you should be able to relax well once a week in a standard bathtub, I hope. For me, I feel the same about the shower. My husband was crazy about this rain shower. But meanwhile, he also says that it's probably not worth the 1000 euros, which in my opinion could be better invested elsewhere. If we could install it ourselves over a weekend, it would be worth it to him, but 1000 euros on top, probably not.

I definitely see more benefit in a double washbasin, especially with two small children in the morning, and I also find it much nicer visually. But over 1000 euros... I think we'll put that on the back burner. We would also like additional skylights for more light. That would be much more important to both of us than the washbasin.

But why do you think it's easier to replace it afterward?
