As of now, the appointment will probably not take place. According to the court, it will be canceled if the lockdown is extended, and at the moment, that seems very likely.

Right now, everything is a bit crazy.

I couldn’t quite tell if the house is occupied. Maybe just write a nice letter explaining why you are interested in the house and submit your offer. It takes a very long time from when a foreclosure occurs until the transfer to a new owner. In the best case, you will then be allowed to visit the house or if not, you will have clarity.

So far, I have only talked to the neighbors and the impression of the owner is somewhat odd. No one knows him, no one has ever been inside the house. But sure, it's worth a try.

At the moment, I am hoping for a postponement of the appointment. We need a bit more time to gather information. After we went for a walk there today, my father suggested I ask about the water levels in the adjacent nature reserve. Allegedly, the conservation authority has something like that. It would be good to know if the basement regularly stands in water.

Of course, I forgot the photo. But I found this one from the summer when the house caught my attention.

So if anyone has any ideas about this type of house and renovation costs, just let me know.

What is not clearly visible in the photo: on the ground floor, next to the windows, it is not brick-clad but another gray material. What could that be? Is it possible to insulate such a facade effectively?

It's always hard to say. Off the top of my head, I notice that the roof has little overhang on the gable side. I can't see anything on the sides. You also have to look closely at the details: Between the three windows on the first floor, there is only a very narrow bridge each. It could look strange with insulation or without insulation in that spot. Is the lintel continuous? Then get rid of the braces. Insulating the roof could still be interesting. Can you see anything through the window? Is it built out? There is something on the pane, but the photo doesn't reveal what it could be. How about ringing the doorbell at the house itself? If no one ever opens, just walk around and look through the windows?

From the side, it almost looks like my house from the 60s. Brickwork probably set directly against the wall without an air gap. Roof overhang 15cm? The facade can be well insulated, why not? 15cm is probably enough for KfW 55 if you don’t want to touch the roof (= 12cm insulation) Attic as a cold roof. Tassimat has already said something about the windows on the upper floor.
