Yes, that’s exactly how I would interpret the numbers too and I am just as puzzled.

I don't want to offend you now, because you have been punished enough with the procurement of the new compressor anyway and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. But your heating system is not maintenance-free and you as the homeowner were not given the operating instructions for no reason.

Who has maintained the heating system? Was it done regularly?

As soon as I saw after the first year that the heat pump starts as shown in the screenshot, the heating technician was at my place the next day. There were just under 9.5k starts on the meter (or one start every 12 minutes). Now, 3 years later, it’s a total of 11.5k starts.

You see, this is not unusual and happens more often, especially when something is defective (RT sensor defective, expansion tank defective, underfloor heating circuits not filled, etc.)

First of all, I also think that the heat pump is too large, even if it can modulate down to 3kW. But when I read that you have 3 times as many starts as operating hours, the heating system is really running badly. Sorry. I would rather expect the ratio to be reversed – at least 2-3 times as many operating hours as starts. If the numbers are correct, the compressor has made as many starts in 6.5 years as a well-running heat pump would in 60-100 years. So the compressor has really held up well (but you probably don't want to hear that). Did no one instruct you on the heating system or set it up correctly? What happened during maintenance, did the installer notice nothing – or did you not perform any maintenance, which I would understand since hardly anyone does.

The heating system was of course set up and we were instructed.

There was maintenance carried out by the installing company, which was included.

The offered maintenance contract was so expensive that we did not sign it, especially since the heating system was offered to us as maintenance-free like a refrigerator before the house was built.

The compressor is not broken now because we didn’t maintain it, but probably because it was incorrectly sized and configured.
