Serious question? Because here, too, savings are made wherever possible. In the past, washing machines lasted 30 years, nowadays 5 years is good and 10 years is great. Heat pumps are similar, pressure switches, compressors, and controls outdoors. You don’t have any of that with gas. Even manufacturers state that heat pumps last on average only 10 to 15 years. Gas heating systems last rather around 25 years. Major repairs excluded. Gas boiler investment 3k and heat pump rather 10k. But I don’t think a rational discussion is possible here if I read the post from the other colleague.

This means, conversely, since you prefer gas over a heat pump, that you nowadays wash by hand because the washing machine is just rubbish and constantly breaks down? You are incorrigible :D

I think wants to make it clear that the heat pump is not always the one and only solution for everyone. You, , are aware of this and are deeply involved in various topics, but in my opinion, some young, inexperienced builders still do no harm by approaching the heating topic openly to all possibilities and not letting themselves be guided by so-called "standards," as if there were nothing else; this is exactly what I sometimes read, even though many people are building for the first time and have little or no experience with it. Gas heating can be viewed critically from many perspectives, yet it is probably true that it runs reliably and cheaply for the most part; in addition, the fact is that "everyone" heating installer knows it well. Depending on the type, one can be just as happy with one as with the other; THAT should be the flow temperature. every builder should understand this first, to then see what suits him best in detail.

No, if I can still get a washing machine nowadays with 30 years of durability and all the advantages of modern devices, I prefer to take that. :)

Gas is also currently cheaper in consumption. What the future holds is crystal ball gazing.

But that is once again a sweeping statement that has no general validity. I could also say: Driving with premium gasoline is currently cheaper in terms of consumption. The statement is even correct if I compare the mini compact car to the big diesel SUV. But a proper heat pump with appropriate heating planning does not heat more expensively than the gas heating system. Please write differentiated contributions regarding heating system choices. Sweeping generalizations do not help anyone here. Thank you.

In the past, everything was simply better, and in general, I am absolutely against the trend of the throwaway society and the "stinginess is cool" mentality. This results in a lot of electronic waste, and this generalized statement can then be applied against everything. Then you shouldn't even install controlled residential ventilation or any KNX, because somehow everything is produced cheaply. Why not drive a Trabant if the Daimler EQS is full of electronics that are much more prone to failure?

I think no one here is idolizing the heat pump or praising it as a panacea. Those who don't want cooling, want an inexpensive heating medium, and already have a gas line at the property can of course use gas. But even in cold regions, I wouldn't want to install an air-to-water heat pump.
