I think the 5m is more of a standard in front of the garage. The building authority simply wants an additional parking space in front of the garage, so that, for example, visitors don’t park on the street.

No, it is 3m. The garage may start at the property line, the house may not. That is why most people build the garages on the outer boundaries and the house then stands in the middle. If I forego my garage, I have the neighbor’s garage 3m in front of the window.

Hello King,
our plot is even narrower, 14,xm wide. We also have two garages, but arranged so that one is next to the house and one is in front of it.
The one in front of the house is about 2 m away, perpendicular to the street. This means you have to turn into the driveway around the corner (theoretically it works...), but we have windows on three sides and a passageway to the garden.
Maybe you can also place the carport directly parallel to the street?
