Greetings!

Gradually, I want to start planning the garden irrigation for my soon-to-be finished house. This should initially be done in a completely conventional and un-smart way: a cistern (6,000 liters) is installed underground, and I want to water in the traditional way with a pump and garden hose. The farthest lawn area will be reachable with about 35 - 40 meters of hose length. The cistern is about 2.50 m deep at the lowest point underground.

Now I find myself in the confusion of possible pumps. (An)Suction pump, dirty water pump, submersible pump, garden pump, deep well pump.. X,000 l/h, so much bar pressure.. Does anyone have good advice here?

even if the answer doesn't quite fit: We ordered the "Hauspaket Tano L" from Mall twice for our semi-detached house. A kind of domestic water system is installed here which is supposed to supply the toilet and washing machine. Somewhere I read that over the course of a year the garden accounts for only about 2% of the total water consumption. And especially in winter, when the cistern is full, you don't need water for the garden. Maybe one should consider whether proper piping into the house is still possible?

Unfortunately, I have no experience with pumps and cisterns yet. But I believe has installed a "somewhat larger" cistern and has dealt with the topic ...

For garden irrigation we had a simple and absolutely functional solution: a house water system under €100, dry installed at the 5000-liter cistern and built into a box with some insulation. Power connection attached and with a suction hose from the hardware store up to just above the bottom of the cistern. At the end a filter (all available at the hardware store for relatively little money). To the outlet pipe we then built a simple faucet on a wall and also attached a simple distributor for 3 euros. This allowed us to tap water directly at the faucet and on the other line we connected an ordinary garden hose which we laid (partially slightly buried) from the property side to the edge of the property, where we also installed a faucet. Thus, we had water connection at two places at any time and continuous pressure in the line, similar to an ordinary house water tap. Little money, easy to do and it worked great. If you don’t want to do the insulation, you can simply cover it so that nothing gets wet and put the thing inside in winter. For us it was always outside.

Take a well pump with integrated control and float switch.
This way you have all options for the future.
Delivery height is not a problem for you. Nearly 6,000 liters/h and >4 bar pressure.

If the garden is not yet laid out, consider laying a distribution line with two water outlets.
This way you don't always have to handle a very long hose. With the right pump, both hoses can be used to water simultaneously.

We roughly did it like . But if all that stuff ever breaks, I would make it easier for myself, like writes. For example, Gardena 6000/5

I have to say that I did it like that 25 years ago, with the limited possibilities at the time (also in my mind), and in retrospect, despite its simplicity, it worked great. Apparently, there are innovations as I read, although simplicity often plays a role for me too, or what I can implement with my simple means. But I have to take a look at a pump like -rick- means, since I want to set up a new garden again soon.
