Can a layperson dare to handle the baseboards themselves?

I also glued the baseboards myself in our house (~144m²) using construction adhesive. However, only after almost 1.5 years, because by then they don't settle much anymore.

I had a large miter and chop saw, which of course worked perfectly. It was also very helpful for our 45° corners in the house.

I also bought good MDF baseboards with a Hamburg profile online. The quality was great. What is still missing now... filling all the gaps with acrylic.

Small tip: Do not butt the joints on a straight wall (some walls are longer than the baseboard) square, but also execute them at a 45° angle. This makes the whole thing less noticeable.

I don't know if it's worth it online. We paid 1.40 per meter gross. I needed about 65 m. Two meters are now left over and are in the attic. At first, I had some no-name assembly adhesive from Amazon, which didn't hold. After a year, they simply fell off. However, it was easy to remove; it didn't bond with the surface. The cartridge adhesive now used is the Renovo house brand from Hagebau, which does hold and is only slightly more expensive.

That's exactly right. Unfortunately, our assigned skilled worker did not know this (we as laypeople did) and everything was cut straight or sometimes even with a 2-3mm gap.
Therefore, next time do it yourself also because it can be fun with a proper miter saw.

The assembly adhesive from the German screw giant worked very well for us. Here and there fixed additionally with one or two steel pins and a hammer.

You just need a bit of patience, measure precisely, use your brain to avoid cutting the angles in the wrong direction, and use good tools. The level of difficulty is rather low. We did it with a [Meterstab], [Kappsäge], and [Nagelpistole] and we are not great craftsmen.
