Hi,
we have hired a painter to do the wallpapering and painting for the entire house. I’ve now asked what he would charge for the baseboards but haven’t received a price yet.
Is it something a layperson can do themselves? You can get a miter box and a Japanese saw for just under 70€. On Amazon, there are these "complete packages" with baseboards and such corner blocks for about 200€ (I haven’t calculated yet if the meters would be enough). But a friend said that installing the baseboards is much harder than it seems at first glance. Especially cutting for the corners would be a horrible job.
Do you have any experience with that? I’m not super perfectionistic but it should still look neat. Better have it done professionally, or is it something you can try yourself?

It is an easy job if you put effort into the corners. What kind of baseboards [Fußleisten] do you want? Then we can answer you better.

Did it ourselves. Miter saw, for corners, and glue with assembly paste from a cartridge or silicone adhesive.

We were thinking of such MDF strips (are available in abundance on the internet), they look white but are not real wood. I like the Hamburger or Altberliner profile best. For wet rooms, we would then have to buy special strips, I assume?

Wet rooms should have tiled skirting if they are genuinely wet. Bathrooms, possibly also the utility room. The kitchen is not a wet room for me. Our baseboards are also made of MDF.

Yes, exactly what we are looking for. Can a layman manage the corners? This part I saw is placed against the respective corner and sets the angle at which you then cut. Sounds simple at first.
