We tend to go for the Wicanders Hydrocork, which has a cork core and a thick layer of vinyl on top. Cork is sensationally good to walk on, it sounds very good to us, even if it's not exactly cheap.

We installed a wineo 1500 bio floor. Very high usage class, 150cm planks, PVC-free, Blue Angel. It was very easy to install, simply cut to size with a utility knife.

We only had the leveling compound spread on the screed and then glued it ourselves without impact sound insulation.

And throughout the entire ground floor, laid across rooms without joints. (This was important to us because transition profiles always look awkward.) Only left 1cm gap around the walls. (Screed joints were sealed in advance.)

I have been looking into vinyl floors again

We definitely want to choose a vinyl floor, as it best fits our requirements

required features:
- resistant and robust
- suitable for dogs
- good impact sound insulation (also with dog claws)
- can be installed as a floating floor with a click system

what would you say, which type of vinyl would be best for us:

Solid click vinyl: is supposed to be good and also resistant, disadvantage prone to heat from sunlight exposure (but we don't have floor-to-ceiling windows facing south) only regular windows (only floor-to-ceiling windows in the attic facing north), moisture resistant

Rigid vinyl (SPC): is also supposed to be very good and dimensionally stable and heat resistant, moisture resistant

Vinyl on HDF board: usually worse than rigid vinyl so rigid vinyl is preferable, right? And prone to moisture?

Which type of vinyl would suit us best?

But I also have not yet understood the exact differences :/

You have been dealing with this since the beginning of December, right? Couldn’t you find anything out? Then it is probably more or less all the same with different advertising names. Presumably, massive wood will be best for clicks because nut and feather are least likely to break there? The neighbor said you just have to be careful, similar to laminate. We have glued, so I can’t say from firsthand experience.

So I can recommend Rigid Vinyl. Very easy to install yourself. Tongue and groove stable, not a single piece has broken on my 150sqm. Water-resistant (we also have it in the bathroom and kitchen). Despite children and cats, no scratches or similar. I can't say anything about the other variants...

I have had to take care of other things recently.

It is not easy to find the differences between the various types of vinyl. But there are definitely differences between the types.

Vinyl on HDF is similar to Rigid but with Rigid actually being better at everything. (Vinyl on HDF is out)

Solid vinyl also has its advantages

but which is better, Rigid or Solid, I have not been able to find out so far

each or almost every type of vinyl has its pros and cons
