Although this is often not wood that you can really just burn right away/may/should. Storm damage, leftovers, pallets... But yes, with classifieds you can be very lucky.
Or it is often still not completely dry. That means stacking it loosely and drying it. Otherwise, there will be complaints from the chimney sweep during the moisture measurement.
I mean, expecting the worst is never wrong. It's stupid if you let it spoil your mood. Nobody can know what’s coming, because: "what’s coming" is in the future ;) A wood-burning stove can also bring joy if no war comes. I would go for it ... and if it doesn’t work out ... (probably a lot of wood will be burned this winter, which is rather unfavorable for the environment) ... then just later.
When it comes to wood, we are fortunate to be able to rely on the reserves of the family business. For years, it has been ordering several trees each year, which are independently dismantled and split. It is not about infinite quantities anyway.
...and if you get wood. I would clarify that beforehand, otherwise the nicest stove is useless. In and around Munich, for example, almost all dealers are sold out. And those who still have some charge astronomical prices. Up to €500 per Ster are being asked.
And paid.
Yes, I already wrote in a gas parallel thread today that we had to pay quite a lot for the wood. You don’t just burn that away easily – it’s basically now for the "good room" ;)
Once a week or in an emergency. We didn’t get any for a whole year.

Apparently, it varies greatly by region. We always had some, and until a few months ago at acceptable prices. Now there is enough as well, but the prices are quite inflated. Fortunately, we still have supplies for 2 winters if we heat daily. And the neighbor offered us disposable pallets from his work free of charge.
