You can install a simple stove yourself. These are standardized pipes that are only plugged together and sealed at the chimney; there is a special part for this that is inserted into the chimney. You can get the material for this at the hardware store. Whether it is room air-independent or room air-dependent you have to clarify with the chimney sweep. If you have a large room and no controlled residential ventilation, room air-dependent may be sufficient. I would always install a wood-burning stove because it simply creates a great atmosphere. And in the transition period, it delays turning on the heating. Ours is still only for hot water.
