That is very easy to do in your hallway. The one window facing the courtyard goes away, then the staircase goes up in a U shape. There might even be enough space for an L-shaped staircase. At the top it reaches a small gallery, with a door to the attic.

Planning bungalows is always somewhat different than multi-story single-family houses with a clear separation of day/night - living areas (sleeping / kitchen-living area). Due to the absence of separation by a staircase, there are design opportunities here regarding privacy (bedroom facing the terrace? Large bathroom only for residents or in the front area? Separate "sleeping area" with its own hallway section?

You have a corner bungalow in planning. The advantage of the corner compared to the rectangle is more exterior wall surfaces, the sheltered terrace, and if done right, more light through less building depth. Apart from the terrace, I don’t yet see this being used much.

What is missing for assessment and advice are more detailed information about needs / wishes, location, and surroundings.

What borders the property on the east side? Street, neighbor, field? Do you want many floor-to-ceiling windows with exits from all living and sleeping rooms? Or rather normal railing height in the sleeping rooms?

In my opinion not very successful: Bathroom on the south side with only one window, whose light is "dampened" by the shower enclosure? Bedroom on the south side, but children's room facing east? Garage as the entrance area? 40° roof pitch over a 14m house width? Slanting small walls unnecessarily due to very large built-up area? Where should a proper staircase go if you convert the attic? The hallway will probably be quite a cave when the room doors are closed.

Hello dertill,

thank you very much for your feedback. So, from the floor plan viewpoint, on the right (north-east) there is a neighbor (we wanted, if possible, to make the garage as a boundary building) and on the left (south-west) there is also a neighbor about 6 meters away, although the house is not yet there so it could be more.
Below (south-east) is the street and above (north-west) there is about 40 meters of our property and then a field. A total of 4 houses will be built there and we don’t yet know what the other builders plan to do.

We want "normal" windows in all rooms except kitchen/bathroom. We have written down everything that seemed important to us spontaneously. We currently also have only one window in rooms of 12-15m² in our rental apartment and find that actually sufficient, so I don’t know if we should make it much brighter? Which rooms do you find too dark?

Thank you also for your feedback. The window in the bathroom somehow arose spontaneously. I also think that we should possibly additionally plan a tall, narrow "arrow slit" above the toilet. We don’t want to make it too visible. Or what would be your ideas?

You made a few bullet points with facts, feel free to share your thoughts with us

[*]Bedroom on the south side --> Yes, why otherwise?

[*]but children’s room facing east? --> Yes, why otherwise?
[*]Garage as entrance area? --> Yes, why otherwise?
[*]40° roof pitch over 14m house width? --> How else?
[*]Slanted walls without necessity as very large built-up area? --> We thought that would loosen everything up a bit. "Slanted" walls are not only for small houses, I don’t think every wall has to be right-angled.

[*]Where should a proper staircase go if you finish the attic? --> That is a good point, Nordlys already mentioned it. We will think about it.

[*]The hallway will probably be quite a cave if the room doors are closed. --> We planned windows and electric lighting there. What is the alternative? To carry the hallway "to the left" to have a window and lose 4m² each from bathroom and bedroom? If you have alternatives, please share them with us.

Childfree topic. Wait until the theoretical child has become reality.

You don't "save" a corridor by replacing it with detours.

Friends in Germany???
I don't really believe in a permissible house entrance exclusively through the garage, even with cars without internal combustion engines.

Only one window and actually find that sufficient, and therefore I don't know if we should make it much brighter? Which rooms do you find too dark?

I might be spoiled by now, we have 10 m of floor-to-ceiling windows on the 13 m south-west side in the living area.

Your south side is blocked with a bedroom (which is unoccupied during the day, east to northeast is better) and a bathroom (completely without a window facing south). The evening sun in the west shines right into your face when watching TV.

Here is a quick sketch – I had something similar from our renovation planning still lying around. Certainly not perfect but as inspiration for separating living and sleeping/private areas without much hallway and with lots of light.
