Hello dear community,
I have been planning our new Ikea kitchen for weeks.
I am enthusiastic about tall dishwashers, as they really relieve the back.
The dishwasher has already been purchased but is still with the dealer; soon we want to pick up the kitchen at Ikea Breslau (it’s much cheaper there).
The dishwasher is a semi-integrated Siemens with standard dimensions.

My plan so far was to simply place it on a 40 high base cabinet (sold as a wall cabinet for the fridge, but can also be used as a base cabinet in the planner).

The dishwasher forms the right end of the kitchen row. If the project is successful, I will be happy to report here and post pictures.

My questions now:

1. Load capacity of the base cabinet:
How much weight can the cabinet hold? I was thinking of placing a leftover piece of a 40cm worktop between them, partly because of the height, and partly to have the weight not on the cabinet top but on the side walls. Is it then advisable to put the cabinet on 4 feet instead of feet at the front and a mounting strip at the back? Does the cabinet still have enough stability if I cut out a hole about 5*5cm in the rear side walls on each side to run a drain pipe and for the same reason omit the back panel? I might then screw in additional brackets inside the cabinet.

2. Attachment:
Normally a dishwasher is fixed at the front on the sides with screws. On the right side, towards the wall, I thought of simply screwing a square timber to the wall, attaching the dishwasher to it, and of course a front panel at the front. But on the left side, it’s not so simple. There is a standard height sink base cabinet attached there. I can at most use the lower fixing screw; next to the upper one, there is only the side panel, which carries no load. Only a worktop will go on top of the dishwasher. It should additionally rest at the back and on the right on metal brackets. Does it make sense to secure the dishwasher from tipping somehow at the back/top? My worst-case scenario is that the little one hangs on the open door and the dishwasher tips onto him. Can you attach some kind of fixture somewhere at the back of dishwashers? For example with perforated metal strips, brackets, or fabric straps similar to those used on bookshelves?

3. Facing:
I would attach a 60*60 front to the dishwasher. That works quite regularly without any tricks. Because I will have a 4cm worktop underneath anyway, I will end up with a plinth height of 20cm. I would bridge that by simply attaching a taller door to the cabinet underneath. Does anyone have experience how much gap is then needed above so that the lower edge of the dishwasher door does not get stuck when opened? The 3mm standard from Ikea is probably not enough. Or is there any other solution?

4. Filler piece:
On the right towards the wall, I need a filler piece. I am aware that I have to cut that out of a side panel. But how do I fix it? I don’t want any screws visible from the front. Are there some clips you screw in and then just put the board on? Or maybe glue it to the already mentioned square timber?

So, those were many many questions, surely they have been asked somewhere before. I have already learned a lot of useful things here in the forum; I mainly want to make sure I haven’t totally overlooked anything. Planning only with information from the internet is a bit risky after all.
Many thanks in advance to everyone who has read my concern this far; it’s quite a lot of text.

Best regards

Christian

Jelimi has installed the dishwasher at a raised height. He did not describe all the exact details. Why don’t you send him a message?
