Within the last 8 years, I believe there was an earthquake in Saarland (Saarwellingen, if I’m not mistaken). The cause was indeed the former mining industry, which would probably make the operating company liable for damages. However, one does not know to what extent the company still exists or finds "nice excuses."

I have just looked at Huk24 as well. It is cheaper than Domcura. And I find no disadvantages. Although Huk24 is somewhat difficult to analyze, as it cannot be compared in detail on any of the relevant comparison portals.

Where Check24 and similar are not comparison portals in the sense of consumer information, but sales platforms. The comparison parameters shown are not necessarily complete, nor are they liable for the information provided there.

For residential buildings, there are many insurance companies that one has never heard of by name and that do not use "modern" sales channels. An insurance broker is not such a bad idea for that, in my opinion.

Exactly. Broker. Not just house, we have everything through him. He has a general power of attorney from us so that he can insure us wherever he wants. Guideline. Affordable and good, not necessarily as cheap as possible. He acts accordingly. In case of damage, he is my contact person. He has access to insurance companies that check24 doesn't even know. Car, for example Condor, house Badener, with some I don't even know offhand where we are. Doesn't matter. That's his job. I pay him for it. We came to brokers because we had to insure a ship. Both check24 and the big suspects failed there. They can’t do it, it doesn’t work, we don’t do that. But the broker put together a very good policy from Lloyd’s of London and Generali. At a good rate. We liked that. So we gradually switched everything to him. Karsten

Does the broker also use purely online distribution channels like Huk24?

At first, I had stayed away from that when my father told me what he paid for his semi-detached house at Allianz.... he also has a general agent who takes care of everything. Of course, a broker is independent, but I would have thought he also has such cost structures and does not use online rates.

I only experienced that recently when I wanted to take out a motor vehicle insurance for my business. The cheapest rate at one provider could only be concluded as a private individual. As a business owner, I was then referred to a broker. He could not offer from the online segment, and I was about 10-15% above that.

Just compare the broker's proposal with what you found online yourself.

General agents ... where it says Allianz, of course there is only Allianz. You have to go to an independent broker.

Individual things are simply (still) not available with one click online. Commercial vehicle insurance has a few more factors and features than private vehicle insurance.
